This post is a little late, but we wanted to be sure and share this important milestone with you all. On 6/14/18 our brave little Adam turned ONE! ☝ What an unimaginably difficult first year it’s been. We would’ve never expected the first year of his life to have gone the way it went, but we are thankful that despite it all, Adam is still growing, learning, laughing and exploring new things every day, and because of it all our family has grown stronger and stronger. Adam amazes us day by day with his positive attitude and cheerful personality. He has quite the personality now! He’s finally starting to eat solids, crawling, cruising, walking assisted, and talking a lot (mostly babbling).
Adam celebrated his 1st birthday at the CHLA infusion center, and the nurses enjoyed doing something fun for him. There were over a dozen nurses that came by our room to sing happy birthday to him. They absolutely adore him! I mean, who wouldn’t??
The following weekend, Adam had his first birthday cupcake, and believe it or not he actually ate some! For those that have been following this blog you know how much we’ve struggled with getting him to eat ANY solid foods. Obviously sugary foods isn’t ideal but hey, he’s only turning ONE once! ? He wore his superhero “Super Adam” outfit on his birthday (homemade by a friend). Below are some photos.
Thank you for allowing us to share this significant milestone with you all! And thank you for being on this journey with us, through the good and the bad. We are so thankful to the Lord for protecting our little Adam this past year, and continuing to heal his little body everyday. Please do continue to pray for us these next few months. Adam has his next appointment with the opthamalogist in September, and even through we try not to think about it, we are still sad knowing he probably cannot see out of his left eye. But we are desperately praying every day that the Lord would give us another miracle and fully restore his sight. ?
CURRENT UPDATE: Adam was supposed to start chemo cycle 7 last week but unfortunately his counts did not recover from cycle 6 yet, so they had to delay his therapy. Adam will be starting chemo cycle 7 tomorrow (Monday, July 2). This cycle will be 3 days long, and since Wednesday July 4 is a holiday we will be admitted into CHLA for just 1 day, since the infusion center will be closed. Which by the way, I can’t believe it’s already July. It’s been 5 months since we started this journey. What a long way we’ve come and what a journey it’s been. Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers. ?
Ed and I rejoice in the good news of Adam’s progress. Oùr prayers continue, asking God to bless him with a full recovery.
Love, Aunt Joyce and Uncle Ed
That video is SO cute!
Rom. 8:11–And if the Spirit of the One who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who indwells you.
Lord Jesus, thank you for sustaining our little Adam to this day. Thank you for his first birthday. Give him many more birthdays. We praise You for Your faithfulness to our little Adam. Give life to all the members of this family. Be their divine supply. Amen.
I think of you 3 all the time, streaming LOVE and prayers and holding you in my spirit up here in Seattle.

Dear Adam – Happiest of birthdays and many more to come! xoxo
Dear Super Adam…your year as a 1(one) year old is going to be SO great!
You’re surrounded by a beautiful cloud of witnesses cheering you on to be
healthy, happy and a joy to everyone around you. You are VERY loved…
a whole lot by your Mom and Dad – but even more by your Father God + Lord
Jesus.
Please eat food – it’s quite yummy – your Auntie Ruth can fill in the details on
that for you someday.
We’re keeping you close in Spirit as you head toward the finish line…
Love to all there – always,
N (+J)
