About Adam: Adam Gabriel Dewey was born on June 14, 2017 at 4:03 AM weighing 7 lbs, 1 oz. and 20.5″ inches long. He is the firstborn for Hannah and Mark, and is their utmost pride and joy. He is the sweetest baby with a left dimpled smile, calming eyes, and an infectious laugh. He loves his daddy’s unique sense of humor and he can’t get enough of mommy’s hugs and kisses.

Adam’s diagnosis and prognosis: On January 31, 2018, Adam was diagnosed with Stage 4 neuroblastoma at around 7-months of age. Compounded symptoms surfaced over a matter of mere weeks prior to his diagnosis: a series of fainting episodes, an enlarged and hardened abdomen, a swollen/bruised eye, loss in appetite and increased discomfort/fussiness. Scans showed a large mass in the abdomen, and further testing showed presence of the cancer cells in various areas of the body. At the time of the diagnosis, the physicians determined the mass to be too risky to operate and recommended the start of chemotherapy treatment right away in order to shrink the mass size prior to surgery.

Adam’s treatment: An intensive 6-month regimen of chemotherapy treatment followed by surgical removal of the mass. Treatment will continue in less frequent intervals over the course of the subsequent 12-18 months to ensure no re-growth of the cancer.
